Movement Magisterial Reformation
Born Gunzenhausen, 1498
Died 1552
Significance Osiander was a German Lutheran reformer in Nuremburg. He was often belligerent and not well-liked by his Lutheran or Reformed colleagues. He criticized Melanchthon's view of justification as too forensic. He argued that persons are transformed by Christ's divine nature that indwells them. His concept of justification was condemened by article 3 of the Formula of Concord.
