| Significance | Jeanne (also known as Jeanne d'Albret) was the daughter of Henry d'Albret, king of Navarre, and Marguerite d'Angouleme, sister of Francis I (king of France). She declared her conversion to the Reformed faith in 1560 and was able to advance Calvinism around Bearn. She also shared leadership in La Rochelle with Catholic Cardinal Gaspard II as a result of the Peace of Saint-Germain Settlement. |
